The 'Ultimate Women's Luncheon' by admin Comment (0)

On Thursday I flew to Coolangatta and was transferred to the luxurious Hyatt Regency at Sanctuary Cove. The purpose was to speak about my memoir 'Nefertiti Street' at a women's luncheon in the wonderful ambience of The Grange, an exclusive function centre at the hotel.

Great vacation reading by admin Comment (0)

Despite the fun-filled and adventurous holiday I have just had, I was able to read rather extensively while lazing on the deck of Lazuli II, (a dahabeya) as we sailed down the Nile, also while waiting for planes ( some delayed) and lazing in hotels and on beaches in Muscat and Dubai. The four authors that I overdosed on were Ian McEwan, Justin Cartwright, J. M. Coetzee and Douglas Kennedy.

Egypt, Oman and Dubai by admin Comment (0)

It's been a while since I added anything to Pamela's Postings as I've been travelling and had little contact with the internet. There were many highlights: spending time with a great group of eight people celebrating a friend's fiftieth birthday in Egypt, particularly the six nights spent sailing the Nile on a dahabeya; roaming alone around Oman's coastlines, mountains and villages with just a guide, and staying at Jumeirah Beach in Dubai while catching up with family.

Descriptions of my impressions and adventures will be featured on my other website http://www.zeldastravels.com/   in due course.

A fabulous new quirky book by admin Comment (0)

Just read one of the best books in a long while: 'A Fraction of the Whole' by Steve Toltz, a riotously funny story about the a father and son. It is his first novel and was  shortlisted for the Man Booker prize and described in glowing terms in LA Times, Sunday Times, Irish Times and Wall Street Journal. The Sunday Telegraph said 'A gloriously absorbing, preposterous and funny excursion to the brink of madness and the meaning of life.

Return from Vietnam by admin Comment (0)

I have just returned from twelve days in Vietnam. This was Christmas with my son, Ben, who is unable to make it home for the festive season as he is setting up another advertising agency. Although I didn't have much time to explore extensively, I did visit some interesting places and had several fascinating experiences. Vietnam is an 'in your face' kind of place.
